Sophie Laura’s Sticky Kickin’ Wings

This dish is a real crowd pleaser, whether you’re entertaining guests, gathering the family for dinner or you’ve been asked to bring a dish to a party – you’ll win them over! A kick of fresh chilli, toasted sesame seeds, sticky, succulent chicken wings, what’s not to love?

Sticky Kicking Sesame Wings

Servings 4 servings


  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 2 tbsps refined coconut oil
  • 2 tsps smoked paprika
  • 2 tsps onion powder
  • 1 tsps garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp ceylon cinnamon
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 3 tsps tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp grassfed butter
  • 2 spring onions chopped
  • 1 fresh red chilli pepper chopped


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C)

  2. In a mixing bowl combine the powdered seasonings and season with salt and pepper
  3. Melt 1 tablespoon of the coconut oil and add half of the seasoning, mix well

  4. Place the chicken wings in an oven proof dish and rub the seasoning into the wings
  5. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes
  6. Whilst the chicken is cooking, melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of coconut oil in a small pan and add the mustard, tomato paste and remaining seasoning mix and whisk to form a smooth paste

  7. Add the butter to the pan and bring the sauce to the boil stirring constantly for a few minutes
  8. Remove the wings from the oven and pour over the sauce

  9. Bake the wings for a further 25-30 minutes, but remember to turn them over half way through cooking
  10. When the wings are fully cooked, sprinkle over the sesame seeds, chillies and spring onions and serve
